Flash Fiction Friday And Beetlejuice (1988)

Come on out and see the 1988 classic, Beetlejuice and Submit your 100-word story about ghosts!

On Friday, November 1, we will be hosting our Fall Flash Fiction Friday with the Screening of the 1988 classic Halloween fantasy-comedy-horror film: Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice: The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out.

Flash Fiction Theme: Ghosts! We are inviting community members to write 100-word (exactly! Not 99 words not 200 words) fictional stories about ghosts. All folks who submit entries will 1) recite (or ask someone to recite for them) their flash fiction on stage before the movie 2) be entered into our GHOST raffle to win ghost-themed prizes! Winners will be announced and prizes given after the movie!

How to enter: 

1. Write a 100-word short story (these are called “drabbles”) about

ghosts.

2. Make sure it is EXACTLY 100 words (not including the title).

3. Submit your drabble either online (if you can’t attend) or in-person

on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6pm. Your submission counts as an entry into

the raffle!

4. Read your piece on stage before the movie (or we will read it for

you!)

5. Stick around and watch “Beetlejuice”

6. Raffle winners will be drawn after the movie! (Please note if you

are submitting online, to be eligible to win the raffle, you must

appear in person)

Please also note, you are not required to submit a drabble to enjoy the movie -- this is a fun and optional activity to share creativity and community.
