The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)

Sunday, October 27th at 7PM

Tickets $7 at the door.

At a carnival in Germany, Francis and his friend Alan encounter the crazed DR. CALIGARI. The men see Caligari showing off his somnambulist (sleepwalker), Cesare, a hypnotized man who the doctor claims can see into the future. Shockingly, Cesare then predicts Alan's death, and by morning his chilling prophecy has come true -- making Cesare the prime suspect. However, is Cesare guilty, or is the doctor controlling him? Or is it that other guy that also seems guilty?

THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI is a spooky silent cinema classic. Released in 1920, it's a quintessential film of the style known as German Expressionism. The sets and costumes are meticulously crafted in a surreal, strange and twisted manner that strikes an extremely unique mood that cinema hasn't quite seen since.

Featuring an original live music score from the Denver-based silent movie band Arm Noir. A bit about the musicians:

Kris Drickey is the vocalist/violinist/synthist/percussionist for the multi-dimensional art rock group Chimney Choir. Over the past several years Chimney Choir has put on some amazing multi-media shows involving performance art, interactive animations, puppetry and metaphysical outer space dream stories.

William Overton has written and performed original scores for many silent films over the past several years, performing at the Denver Silent Film Festival and other independent silent film screenings around the Denver area. His works include original scores for METROPOLIS (1927), GRASS (1925), THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME (1916), and A TRIP TO THE MOON (1902).

David B. Weaver is the creator and exhibitor of Davey B. Gravey's Tiny Cinema, a tiny movie theater inside of a cargo trailer that screens short, silent films on Super 8 film while Dr. Gravey himself plays live musical accompaniment. He also collaborated with William Overton on original scores for THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME (1916), and A TRIP TO THE MOON (1902).
