Cha Cha Cha Trio & Other Latin Things Dance Bootcamp Series:

No Partner, No Problem

2021 Summer Series

Friday, August 6th

5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Instructor: Oneyda Maestas

Register by emailing info@historicutetheatre.com

This workshop series will offer a variety of featured Latin Dance Rhythms with cultural/historical information shared throughout the session. This Latin dance summer series is for all ability levels(beginner/intermediate/advanced). Each bootcamp session will introduce and segue into a new Latin dance genre that will build your dance knowledge progressively through hands-on review and practice throughout the summer.

 Latin Dance Bootcamp I – Friday, June 11 th : Salsa Tropical & Other Latin Things

 Latin Dance Bootcamp II – Friday, July 23 rd : Bachata Dominicana & Other Latin Things

 Latin Dance Bootcamp III – Friday, August 6 th : Cha Cha Cha Trio & Other Latin Things

In Latin Dance Bootcamp III, you will move your body to the fun and flirtatious rhythm of the Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha (also called Cha-Cha), a must have in your social dance arsenal. The Cha Cha Cha evolved from a

slow version of the Cuban Mambo called “Triple Mambo” or Mambo with guiro rhythm and Danzon. This musical rhythm inspired dancers to dance a hip syncopation in the middle of the forward and back breaks of a mambo, eventually evolving to a triple step.

In this workshop, participants will take time to master the basic steps of the featured dance rhythm, “Cha Cha Cha”, with review and practice of Merengue, Bachata and Salsa Tropical. The class will culminate with a practice dance party featuring all dance rhythms learned in the Latin Dance Bootcamp series. Dress to impress! Ladies, feel free to wear a dress/skirt and gentlemen, feel free to wear jeans and a comfortable dress shirt.

The Art of Celebration: Using Art and Writing to Celebrate Ourselves

Use crayons, markers, and colored pencils and writing to get in touch with your playful side as you celebrate your creativity.

About this event

Creativity Pie presents: The Art of Celebration

We often don’t think that our small accomplishments are worthy of celebrating. It seems easier to honor other people, forgetting to praise ourselves. In this class, we’ll play with crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils, and words to create a simple touchstone to inspire you to keep celebrating. You are worth it!

The Art of Celebration is one of three playful workshops Patrice and Marcia will be offering this summer: building community, traveling through time, space, and imagination. You’ll be guided to explore yourself using the tools of simple drawing, words, memory, and color. In each one, create souvenirs from your inner travels to take home and remind you of your discoveries. Each class is a stand-alone workshop– you need not attend all three to have a blast! Stay tuned for more!

You will receive a Zoom link approximately 30 minutes before class begins. Please check your spam/promotions folder.

In this free online workshop to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we will: 

  • explore ways to release old, habitual patterns and develop resilience in transformation; 

  • put the past behind us and the future in front of us while standing in the present; 

  • allow creativity to inspire expression-to-expansion in the creation of our own Clothesline Project T-Shirt.

Thank you to the Saguache County Victim Response Unit for both inspiring and co-sponsoring this workshop. Participation is limited to 20. To pre-register, email info@historicutetheatre.com or call 719-427-1080 with your name, phone number, and email; we will contact you with more info.

Note: this workshop includes sensitive content which may be triggering. Although this type of workshop can be healing, it is not intended to serve as therapy.

ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP LEADER Suzanne Rougé is an Educator, Visionary, Artist, Activist, Ceremonialist and Earth Medicine Mama.  She has traveled the country sharing Earth Honoring traditions and healing work.  Suzanne lives in the San Luis Valley and has recently shared her wisdom through leading the following online workshops for the Historic Ute Theatre: Moon Magic, Ancestral Healing, and Changing Times: the Emergence of Balance.

Clothesline Projects all over the world remind people of the real meaning of violence statistics that are often ignored. It originated in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1990 when a member of the Cape Cod's Women's Defense Agenda learned that during the same time 58,000 soldiers were killed in the Vietnam War, 51,000 U.S. women were killed by the men who claimed to love them.
